FRIDAY, 07 MARCH 2008 MyMovies.Net Update
Hi there, I assume that you've got lost again you poor
soul and found yourself face-to-blog with my weekly
filmic diatribe. Gawd bless ya. Whilst you're here I may
as well regale you with past indiscretions for the week.
First
up on this smorgasbord of evil is "Vantage
Point" - a would-be political assassination
told 'Roshomon' style, weaving together several
different takes on the action from individual points of
view...hence 'Vantage
Point'. A marketeer's wet dream! These
Hollywood suits really do know what they're doing. Pity
then that the cast and crew don't. "Vantage
Point" suffers from what I'd like to call a
bad 'case of the Clown Shoes'. The Secret Servicemen
here act as if they're patrolling the local beat in
Sidcup and the motiveless baddies are as inept as they
are pointless - having staged the grandest attack ever
seen would you really risk it all by swerving to avoid a
little girl standing in the middle of road?!!!!!! That's
not a spoiler people as I hope that none of you will be
bored enough this weekend to actually watch it! But, on
a lighter note, check out our featurette featuring Brit
director
Pete Travis - our interview is better than
the actual movie. True story.
If
you fancy watching something half good then you'd be
better off catching "The
Other Boleyn Girl". The Tudor drama of Henry
VIII, his roving cod-piece and propensity to part people
from their heads, is particularly well stocked with the
likes of Eric Bana in the lead and the lovely Scarlett
Johanson and Natalie Portman. And to mark the Royal Gala
Screening of "The
Other Boleyn Girl", we were allowed out of
the office to
interrogate/molest/quiz/terrify/distract/lovingly
caress/make cry/Love in a Time of Cholera/ask questions
of/ (delete where appropriate) the stars at the
Red Carpet. And here the lovely stars are
for your beatification.
Now, to end on a high...or at least end on a slightly
less melancholic note...I present to thee the new shiney
"Iron
Man" trailer.
