MyMovies.Net Update
Hi
there and welcome once more to the filmic regurgitation that is this Blog. After
all the 'excitement' (please read pant-wetting disappointment) of last week -
what with "The Incredible Hulk" smashing up the UK Box Office Chart and "The
Happening" not really 'happening' for M. Night Shyamalan - it's quite refreshing
to see a week populated with low-key Brit efforts.
First up its "Adulthood" with
Noel Clarke, yes him out
of "Dr. Who", taking up writing/directing/starring duties on this follow up to
2006's "Kidulthood". This hoodie-basher (quite literally in some cases) takes a
hard-edged look into the 'yoof' of this crime addled country of ours. Not a
bundle of joy then this but a competent enough drama from a promising young
filmmaker. And we caught up with star
Scarlet Alice Johnson to discuss all
manner of growing pains.
If
you are one of these strange types who has been hankering for a decent Brit
Prison Break drama (all two of you I imagine) then your wait is over! First time
director Rupert Wyatt, having harvested the power of Grey Skull to coerce
heavy-hitters like Brian Cox and Damien Lewis to join his acting managerie,
delivers an impressive thriller - like a "Shawshank Redemption" via "Oz" in "The
Escapist". Threatening to break out of obscurity then and really make an impact
with us cinema-goers is the likes of
Dominic Cooper and Steven Mackintosh who we
bumped into this week to discuss doing hard time on this one.
In a bout of derring-do and balls-out bravado I thought
I would mix things up a little this week by including a little Red Carpet
Report. I say 'Report', it's more a licensed stalk-a-thon as when the big stars
rock up to Leicester Square I get to heckle them and generally make them feel
uncomfortable with my unsightly visage. And this week was the turn of
Will
Smith, who bopped up to the Square to promote his latest superhero cynic
offering, "Hancock"
And last, but by no means least, let's stand in awe at a blast from the past!
Vin Diesel (remember him?), the guy whose career was almost ruined by the
misadventure that was "The Pacifier", is back and taking names in "Babylon
A.D.". Lo and behold this one actually looks half decent!

MyMovies.Net Update
Hi
there and welcome back to the MyMovies Update! What? What do you mean this is
your first time galivanting about these here web pages?! For shame! Actually,
you've probably been far too busy enjoying life than to worry about the
trivialities yonder page?! Well, I'm here to put a stop to all that and subject
you to another week of Movie features, trailers and clips straight from the
bosom of the filmic world.
And first up in our grill this week in none other than
Casey Affleck. Not content with taking the acting plaudits on "The
Assassination of Jesse James...", Affleck Jr. has swept the
proverbial rug from right underneath director Ben Affleck's feet here in "Gone,
Baby, Gone". Yes the Brothers Affleck team up here to adapt the snot
out of Dennis Lehane's novel...and you know what? They do a mighty fine job of
it too! And despite sounding like death dragged through a hedge backwords, Casey
soldiered on to
tell us all about this taut thriller.
"Gone,
Baby, Gone" is just about the only decent film out there this week
I'm afraid but If you fancy leaving your brain at the door then there's always "Superhero
Movie". Yes, there's always a spoof it would seem. The guys who
brought you such execrable delights like "Scary
Movie" and "Epic
Movie" are back and this time they're taking aim at the slew of
comic book adaptations currently doing the rounds (shock, and indeed, horror).
And if, and I do mean 'if', you were wondering what's in store for you then
here's a clip from the film. It feature
Pamela Anderson. So there.
After
such detritus it might be best that we end on something of a high note. And
here's said 'high'. Next month we can look forward to the long overdue release
of Stephen King's "The
Mist". The film has already done the rounds in the States and
finally a distrib has ponied up and bought the rights this side of the pond.
This uber dark retelling of King's most cherished short story should go down a
(ahem) storm here. But don't take my word for it!
Here's the trailer. Until next week my friends.
FRIDAY, 30 May 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
Hi
there! Well "Indiana Jones"
has been and gone then?! Breezing through town with nary a 'how do' or a sly nod
of appreciation - the fedora-wearing rascal! In all honestly, and despite making
more money than God, "Indy
4" was a bit of a let down no?
Shia La Beouf swinging through trees?! Lovable CGI rodents popping
up at inopportune times?!! Yeah, thanks for that
George Lucas! And there's another cherished trilogy you've wiped
yourself dry with and cast aside like yesterday's yogurt tops. Damn you Lucas!
Damn you and your stupid neck! (seriously have you seen the sight of it
lately?!!!).
Anyway, enough of my temper tantrums. With Indy out of
the picture the stage is set for four fashionistas from New York to set the Box
Office alight. Yep, whether you like it or not, "Sex
and the City" is back and bigger than ever! And in order to get the
full-fat skinny on this one we corralled Sarah Jessica Parker in to sharing her
thoughts on sex, shoes, marriage and the global credit crunch (the last one I
made up if anyone's wondering).
Other
than Carrie and Co. there's nought else happening really in movie land. OK,
there's the (oc)cult offering from Iron Maiden screamer Bruce Dickinson in the
form of the weird "Chemical
Wedding" - but let's face it, will there be anyone left to watch it
after Indy and Ms. Bradshaw divide and conquer the Box Office?! In a rare bout
of impartiality I will leave you to decide...and to help you on your way here's
a little clip from said psychodelic wedding!
To sign off this week I thought I would share my
thoughts on two trailers that have come through the door. First up is "The
Happening" and a new R-Rated trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's
latest. In fairness this one is hanging on a knife's edge - it could be bobbins
or, judging from this trailer, it could be a Twilight Zone-esque frightener with
some real balls. Let's prey for the latter. And lastly, here's "Star
Wars: The Clone Wars". It looks as if Lucas has done the right thing
here by jettisoning off all the actors and replacing them with dead-eyed
cartoons (so a like-for-like swap then?!). Until next time my friends...

MyMovies.Net Update
Hi
there and welcome once more to your final destination in movie features and
trailers - well, I say 'final destination' it is in fact more like a half way
house of horrors whereby the unfortunate reader who stumbles upon this page is
then sent an email detailing their gruesome demise. That actually sounds like a
decent horror, I might call it 'Spam' and enlist one of those lank-haired,
jittery, Japanese ghost types to enliven proceedings. Hang on....did you hear
that sound? That's the sound of that idea being shot/packaged/remade/adapted
(delete where appropriate) as we speak. Oh well, a man can dream...
Lo
and behold, whilst we wait for some
Indiana Jones fella to get his whip out next
week, we're 'treated' to "Shutter". And yes this is a remake of the blockbusting
Thai horror hence the pitiful link at the beginning there folks. Wattered down
for a Western palette, "Shutter" sees the blond from "Transformers" and the
chubby one from "Dawson's Creek" get in to all kinds of supernatural bother when
they discover that their Kodak moments have been spoiled by some pesky spectres.
Happens to me all the time. Anyway, here's
Joshua Jackson and Rachel Taylor
waxing lyrical about this latest remake.
In
terms of releases this week that's pretty much it - there's "Smart People" (dull
as dishwater), "Charlie Bartlett" (bobbins) and the risible "Outpost" (Nazi
zombies - and yes you read that right!). So with this cinematic down time we've
been hitting up the red carpet this week. Chiefly we tracked down those
fashionably fabulous quartet from "Sex and the City" at the World Premiere for
this big screen debut. So why not
check it out?! It's actually better than most
of the films on release this week - and that's a sad fact!
With so much anticipation for the big summer releases I
thought that I would end on a high (relatively speaking) by inviting you to
partake in the latest trailers for "The Incredible Hulk" and "The Happening"
(both out on June 13th). The former sees Bruce Banner (Ed Norton this time
around) trying to rid himself of his rage-filled alter ego with the latter
throwing up another M. Night Shyamalan conundrum for us to ponder over - what
exactly is going on here? And why is Mark Wahlberg seeking answers from a bunch
of bus drivers???!!!

MyMovies.Net Update
So
it comes to pass that a new shadow sweeps the nation, yes the scourge of the
interweb is back and giving it bones in the MyMovies Blog. And this week I've
mostly been harassing the cast of "Speed
Racer" - the Wachowski Brothers uber colourful and ultra cheesy
adaptation of the (in)famous anime. Fast cars, fast women, tons of adoring
fans.....sounds not unlike Margate seafront?! But this effects heavy offering
seems to be already stalling at the starting grid of this summer's blockbuster
race. Weighted down by those pesky critics and Wachowski naysayers "Speed
Racer" may not have enough juice in the tank to take on "Iron Man's"
behemoth opening firgures. One fella who's sitting comfortable though is Emile
Hirsch, his star appears to be rising no matter what vehicle he finds himself
in! And we
caught up with the young blighter to talk all things Speed Race-ry...
Also
out this week is "What
Happens in Vegas"...to which I say "not much - other than the usual
rom-com shenanigans". Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz find themselves hitched
and $3 million better off after one night in the City of Sin (and I still fail
to see what the problem is here?!). As it turns out they both hate each other
making any post nuptial bliss hard to come by and thus setting in to motion some
fairly low-brow high jinx. Points are awarded for effort though and there are
some hearty laughs to be had. Indeed when I cornered both
Ashton and Rob Corddry they were in fine form and eager to
deliberate the merits of cooking boil-in-the-bag rice in a 9 man steam shower
(as you do).
Not
content with unleashing a pack of werewolves on us and allowing us to fend for
ourselves in a cave full of bloodthirsty creatures, Neil Marshall is back and
bringing the noise in "Doomsday".
OK, so the film is slightly gubbins but kudos again for trying and Marshall has
earned the right in my book to try this sort of genre blending thing. That and
you have actual cannibals listening to the Fine Young Cannibals which, not to
put too finer point on it, is a stroke of genius.
Mr. Marshall was even on hand to big up his latest and drop a hint
as to any future sequel!
Well I will love you and leave you with a veritable
rogues gallery now of the summer's big hitters (quite literally in one case).
New trailers galore! So you have Carrie Bradshaw, The Joker and Hancock. I make
that Pim's o'clock!
FRIDAY, 25 APRIL 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
Kobra Khan! Yes, it is I - back once again with the
renegade master and bopping up all over your crib in a
film-related fashion. In the words of Duke Nukem; "it's
time to blithely bang on about a bunch of movies and
then chew bugglegum....and I'm all out of gum" or
something along those lines.
It's
been something of a damp squid in the halls of movie
manor this week - very little to get excited about
pre-"Iron Man" but as ever, I, your faithful servant,
was on hand to get up in the grills of the rich and
famous to discuss their latest paychecks. And the first
'grill' frequented belonged to the lovely Jessica Alba
who was in town to promote "The
Eye" - a fairly competent little shocker and
actually goes some way to proving that Extreme Asian
Cinema can be adapted and adapted successfully at that.
OK, so there's nothing here you havn't seen before,
well...except Alba emoting for a change, but "The
Eye" is worth a watch. And here's J to the
Alba to tell us all about it...
Decidedly
less good is "Deception"
- a low-rent noir thriller produced by and starring Hugh
Jackman. This purports to be a twisty, erotic, exercise
in suspense but it turns out to be more a case of linear
storytelling, plot holes ago-go and all the eroticism of
a slice of gruyere cheese. Not even a lovely looking
Michelle Williams can address that balance and even Obi
Wan finds himself drawn in to this hokey mess. I managed
to catch up with Ewan McGregor to get the lowdown on "Deception"
and guage the Jedi Master's thoughts on his latest
offering...
Now
I could round off proceedings with new look at the
latest and greatest heading your way soon but the truth
is there's simply very few new trailers out there. So
how about instead a reminder of what looks set to be one
of, if not the, best blockbuster to hit this summer.
Meet one Mr. Bruce Wayne. He's
Batman don't you know and here he is looking
all badass and brooding in the brand new official
poster. And we only have four more days to wait for a
new trailer!!!! Booh yeah!
FRIDAY, 18 APRIL 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
"Here comes the hotstepper, murderer - I’m the lyrical
gangster, murderer - Pick up the crew in-a de area,
murderer - Still love you like that, murderer" Yes, that
was the one and only Kamoze Ini...truly a catchy little
number but I can't say as that I agree with the
sentiment. After every nicety there's the reminder that
he is infact a very bad man, not too averse to hurting
someone. And that's just not how we roll here on the
MyMovies blog.
And
nor, I would imagine, is it the rolling method of
Kate Hudson and
Matthew McCounaghey...how's that for a
tenuous link?! Yes these two are at it again like
rabbits - this time swapping the fun 'n' frolics of "How
to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" for a spot of treasure hunting
in "Fool's
Gold". It would certainly be a fool's errand
if you actually went to see this film but if lightweight
rom-com is your thing then why not check out this
red carpet report featuring The McHudson.
Slightly
more upmarket, and a cinematic offering that doesn't
make you feel sullied and used with its tanned-up,
gold-hunting, high jinx, is "Happy-Go-Lucky".
Mike Leigh is back doing the whole social exlporation
'thing' and here he has opened up a nice feel good can
of worms gawd bless him. We even managed to track down
the star of the whole freakin' show,
Sally Hawkins, so that she might wax lyrical
and generally pontificate wildly about her work with
Mike 'The Spike' Leigh.
What? Still not satisfied?!!! Well I'm sick of it! Sick
of it I say!!! Actually that's not true - I live to
serve you guys and serve I shall with this frankly
soul-jingling clip for the incoming "Iron
Man". How about a touch of the Iron Man all
up in his heesouse. You know you love it! Yep, summer is
fast approaching and the metal-clad hero is here to
usher in another season of high concept popcorn mayhem!
Bring it!
FRIDAY, 28 FEBRUARY 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
Hello there again! Lost are we? Well, if it's informed
and exciting movie news you're after then you've come to
the wrong place but if you fancy an irreverent look at
the inner trappings of La La Land then read on my
film-loving buddy.
This
week I found myself in a compromising situation with
Jason Statham...compromising insofar as I
was sitting opposite the "Lock, Stock.." star and asking
civil questions about his latest caper - "The
Bank Job" (and believe me, with my
self-esteem issues as they are just being in the same
room as anyone is often compromising!). "The
Bank Job" is your typical heist movie only
briefly enlivened by the odd bit of cockney banter
between Statham and co. - a solid watch but nothing to
write home about (indeed 'writing' is probably the less
fared means of communication for such a flick - this
feels more like a conjugal visit type thing). As ever -
take a butchers at the pic to your left for the
interview. Bosh.
I
often like to daydream about the career trajectories of
certain Hollywood types. For example, my theory for one
Uma Thurman goes like this....in her younger
years she clearly must have made a pact with the Devil
(or
Quentin Tarantino as he is known on this
earthly plane) and then failed to read the small print
when the cooler than cucumber roles started to dry up.
Exhibit A. "The
Accidental Husband" is about as charming as
a hoodie with all the panache and style thereof.
Obviously, we kept such opinions to ourselves when we
managed to get in the same room as the colossal star -
it was like looking in to the eyes of Aurora herself.
And here, to my right, she resides.
And that's the whole kit and kaboodle for another week
but before I do the 'one' I would like to leave you with
a sparkly new trailer...and so that's what I'll do. So
try a touch of "Never
Back Down" on for size - yes, that's right -
angry teens fighting each other whilst pondering
existential dilemmas, it's like "Dawson's Creek" on
crack...and slightly less aggressive.

MyMovies.Net Update
Hello my movie minions! Ah ha - I'm back and giving it
'some' with the MyMovies Update, the sordid weekly
retelling of my exploits in film land. So, for fear of
my inane witticisms blighting this article further,
let's get to it.
The
Blue Oyster Cult quite rightly once said; "Don't Fear
the Reaper" - and ever since this earnest call to arms I
have endeavoured to live my life thusly...a life
according to the Cult you might say. But there is one
thing this erstwhile young writer fears and that's
John Rambo...well, more specifically
Sylvester Stallone....and I mean a 60-year
old Sly Stallone who looks like he's been dipped in
plastic - a giant action figure if you will reanimated
by some ungodly force of nature and sent to terrorise my
fragile state of being. Despite my phobia of The Sly, I
steadied my nerve and braved the brisk London night for
a spot of Red Carpet jostling. And, because I'm that
sort of guy (the twisted and vindictive kind), here is
said Premiere in all of it's 'glory'.
A
member of the fairer sex once called me 'funny', my
elation was such that I almost touched that rarest of
all human realms - euphoria, and all seemed well until
she added the cutting word 'looking' promptly followed
up by 'please can you adhere to the terms and
conditions of the restraining order with which you were
served...now please go away you petty little man'. She
may have had a point. Anyway, I actually got to meet
someone genuinely funny in the cuddly form of one
Mr. Jack Black. The rotund japester was on
hand to discuss his latest offbeat comedy "Be
Kind Rewind". Please direct your gaze to
yonder picture.
Now - for the moment you've all been waiting for! The
end of this blog! But before we get to the business end
of things I thought I would bestow upon thee a troika of
trailers fresh from the filmic oven. We've got
Kiera Knightley all dressed up once more,
Hayden Christensen in a spot of bother on
the operating table and a bunch of
suffling old-skool zombies! Yay! Now put all
three of those things in one movie and then we can
deal!!!!

MyMovies.Net Update
Hi there my much maligned movie-going friends! Yes, like
it or not, I'm back and bestowing upon thee a plethora
of cinematic treats garnered from my travels.
And
on the horizon this week, like a marauding Box Office
Kraken, is the flight-risk "Jumper".
Doug Liman, the director who's all about the
blending of mild mannered character pieces with
balls-out actioners (see for instance "The
Bourne Identity"), is back back back with
this sci-fi outing based on the popular Steven Gould
series of novels. "Jumper"
sees a smug git dressed in a big coat jumping all about
the place whilst chased by shady agents or Paladins. So
"The Matrix" then with slightly less Kung-Fu? Ah,
if only. No "Jumper"
has fared decidedly less well with the critics but
honestly it's hard to care when the lovely
Rachel Bilson pops up mid-way in to
proceedings. And, lo and behold, I managed to chat to "The
OC" star about her latest role - yes, the quivering
drooling wreck interrogating the pint-sized
princess......yours truly.
Very
few mortals can compare to the perfect poppet that is
Miss Bilson but the legendary
Morgan Freeman comes mighty close! He's
starring alongside
Jack Nicholson in the risable "The
Bucket List" - a buddy comedy about two
terminally ill men who set off on an adventure to tick
off everything they have always wanted to do before they
kick the proverbial 'bucket' - a laugh riot right? Well,
it's not all bad and it actually veers on the 'quite
touching' and speaking of touching I managed to shake
the hand of the mighty Freeman to discuss his work on
this one (and I have yet to wash said paw!!!)
Well, exciting stuff no? What?! You want more?!!!! Well
by means of a fond farewell and a 'see you next time' I
shall leave you in the capable hands of "Speed
Racer", "Hellboy
II" and "Indiana
Jones" (I know, I haven't heard of the last
one either but it may prove to be an underground hit)...
THURSDAY, 7 FEBRUARY 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
Bosh! Welcome back to my weekly blog and now that you’re
here you’re stuck with my verbal barrage of all the
things going on in the filmic flotsam and jetsam that is
London (actually, you’re not ‘stuck’ with this blog – at
any time you can navigate away from it – god bless the
interweb!).
Well,
I’ve been doing the rounds with a few famous faces this
week – one of which is the impossibly handsome (read
smug depending ) visage of Ryan Reynolds. The “Van
Wilder” star has hit something of a pink patch of late
(all this despite the train wreck that was “Blade:
Trinity” – yes, that’s right Reynolds you were
part-responsible for that toilet of a movie!)
culminating in “Definitely,
Maybe”. This Working Title rom-com (c’mon
what else was it going to be?!) sees Reynolds play a dad
having to explain the finer points of his past
relationships to his 11-year old daughter. Sounds like a
hoot no? Actually, this isn’t half bad and we put some
testing questions to Reynolds when we caught up with him
to discuss his latest, testing questions like “so, do
you like the colour blue too?” (hahaha…..I hate myself
right now – rather than endure my rubbish attempts at
comedy why not do yourself a favour and watch the
interview)
Kicking
up a stink at the Academy (that’s The Motion Picture
Academy NOT The Police Academy a la Steve Guttenburg….wow,
I’m on fire today!) is the knocked-up moppet “Juno”.
Everyone wants a piece “Juno”
be they the critics clamouring over themselves to throw
stars at the indie-comedy or Hollywood big-wigs
reserving little golden-statuettes for director Jason
Reitman’s effort. And to be fair it really is quite
good! And the person who cheese-dreamed this one up is
first-time writer Diablo Cody (Best.Name.Ever!). And I
sent another of my minions off to put the heat on Madame
Cody….and here she is now (for your re ference my minions
are not too dissimilar to the Fighting Uruk-hai of The
Lord of the Rings – fantastic typists and surprisingly
jovial!).
And
finally, if you want something done properly then you
better hire Jerry Bruckheimer who will ‘do’ the $*&! out
of it! Yep, Mr. J. Bruckheimer, uber-producer and
co-inventor of the high-concept, is back with “National
Treasure: Book of Secrets” – a sequel that
no one really wanted but a sequel that nonetheless made
a ton of money at the US Box Office! There’s simply no
accounting for taste. NT2 is as redundant as it gets but
if you fancy seeing Emperor Bruckheimer wax lyrical
about it be my guest. Until next time my movie cohorts…
FRIDAY, 25 JANUARY 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
Hi there, and welcome back to the MyMovies blog (what?!
what do you mean this is your first visit?! For
shame!!!), my weekly take on this week's latest
cinematic releases and my two-cents on the films you
should be checking out (I know, my filmic fascism knows
no bounds!).
Of
course, and I'm sure you won't need reminding, the
number one film this week is Tim Burton's
gruesomly gothic take on "Sweeney
Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street".
Now, I'm not much for musicals I grant you - the idea of
singing propelling the story along makes my skin crawl
more than usual - but anything that Tim Burton
touches usually turns to gothic gold (although, we shall
not mention "Planet of the Apes"...Ever!). And "Sweeney
Todd" is no exception. This one may see Johnny
Depp applying a Dick Van Dycke-esque mock-en-ney
accent but there's enought claret on show to keep even
the most diehard horror fan happy. And surprisingly, for
a film delivered through the medium of song, there are
plenty of scares along the way. Well worth a watch. We
popped down to the "Sweeney Todd" press
conference to hear what the cast had to say for
themselves (click on the picture to your right to access
said conference).
"Singing's
for losers! Give me a hard-hitting thriller any day!" -
if this is your war cry of choice then you may be better
off checking out "In
the Valley of Elah". This taut little
offering features Tommy Lee Jones as a grizzled
(does he play any other kind?!) father out to discover
the truth behind his son's murder after he returns home
from Iraq. "In the Valley of Elah" is certainly worth a
watch if only for Jones' Oscar nominated performance,
the rest of the film is certainly watchable and it will
leaving you guessing right until the end but it never
really threatens the 'exceptional bracket'. A surprise
considering it was helmed by Acadmey Award-winning
writer/director Paul Haggis. And I, well not 'I'
per se...I have other minions for that kind of work, was
lucky enough to put some questions to him about his
latest venture (found via the pic to your left).
Speaking of directors, I (and I really mean 'I' this
time) managed to get some face-time with indie helmer
Tamara Jenkins to discuss her work on "The
Savages" a fairly effective little drama
starring Laura Linney and Phillip Seymour
Hoffman. And speaking of speaking...here she is now
doing just that!

Pick of the Week
Ah yes, it's time for me to quietly slink away in to
the night and prepare for a weekend of more films and
pretending that my opinion actually matters! But before
I go I shall lavish (yes, that's right I said 'lavish' -
want to fight about it?) you with a troika of new
trailers that suitably cooked my kipper. Until next week
folks...
FRIDAY, 18 JANUARY 2008
MyMovies.Net Update
Hi there, and welcome once more to the MyMovies Update - my weekly diatribe of cinematic goodness spoon feeding you a diet of trailers and features from all the latest releases.
And
first up, it's "Aliens
Vs. Predator: Requiem" - the next monster
mash up in the "AvP" canon that's come under attack from
the critics. OK, so it's not exactly "Citizen Kane" but
for what it is - essentailly a 'no brainer' with two of
cinema's finest going toe-to-mandible - "AvP:R" delivers
on the action stakes and it even finds room for some
nice little design additions to the "Aliens" and
"Predator" gospel. In particular the fan favourite
PredAlien, as seen ripping out of a poorly Predator in
Paul W.S. Anderson's "AvP"
(2004), adds a nice little twist on the traditional
Giger Alien design (even if its method of 'birthing'
errs a little on the side of the ridiculous!). But for
fans of the games and graphic novels this will be the
film that keeps on giving - for everyone else I'd
recommend "No
Country for Old Men". And to quench the
fans' Alien bloodlust, there's a little sneak peak
behind the scenes of this battle royale which can be
found by clicking the above image.
Of
course, not everyone is going to watch "AvP:R" (I know,
I know not everyone is as geeky or socially stunted as
I?!) but fear not my cinema-going friends for there are
alternatives and to name but one - there's the Coen
Brothers' return with "No
Country for Old Men". Horray for the
Brothers are grim again! "No Country for Old Men" marks
a return to form for cinema's favourite siblings and is
propelled along by some of the best dialogue since
forever and a supporting role by Javier Bardem that is
little short of jaw-dropping (seriously, the guy's a
shoe-in for the Oscar). And we managed to catch up with
Bardem to discuss his latest pyschotic creation - Anton
Chigurh (same drill as before folks...just click on the
image on the right here).
Also out this week is the comedic smorgasbord that is "Walk
Hard" and "The
Good Night". The former being a music biog
spoof from the guy that brought you "Superbad" and
"Knocked Up" i.e. Judd Apatow. Starring John C. Reilly
as Country legend Dewey Cox, this one looks set to
continue Apatow's mirth inducing reign of terror. While
"The
Good Night" is a somewhat more sombre
offering yet with some laugh-out-loud moments courtesy
of Brit funnymen Martin Freeman and Simon Pegg. Below
you can find a clip from "Walk
Hard" as well as an interview with Mr.
Freeman discussing his rather strange working
relationship with Simon Pegg.

Pick of the Week
Well, that's your lot for this week I'm afraid but
as ever I shall bid you adieu in the time-honoured
tradition of this blog and leave you with my pick of
this week's trailers/clips...
