He‘s Hollywood‘s go–to–guy. If you need a spit and polish job done for your latest script then the man to call is David Koepp – screenwriter extraordinaire and Spielberg‘s right hand man. Responsible for "Jurassic Park", "Panic Room", "Spider–Man" and, unfortunately, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", Koepp also fancies himself as a fully–fledged director too.
Having cut his teeth with the so–so, Johnny Depp–starring "Secret Window" and the 2008 Ricky Gervais romantic comedy "Ghost Town", Koepp has decided to take another tilt at this filmmaking lark with thriller "Premium Rush".
According to Variety, the story follows a 20–something bike messenger who somehow gets involved in a chase across New York City. Perhaps going for the real–time angle, Koepp will oversee the frenetic actioner and will, no doubt, try and ape some William Friedkin–style sequences. Apparently a dirty cop is ‘desperate to get his hands‘ on an envelope the messenger received from Columbia University.
Columbia Pictures are, ironically enough, fast tracking the project and are looking to cast the film as soon as possible. Our pick for the young, besieged messenger? Why not Chris Pine?
